I came across a very unique solution the other day to solve some issues I have with script kiddies running bot-net attacks against my game server network.  http://www.ypigsfly.com – they provide secure bandwidth and proxy security services for networks in need like mine!  The architectural design behind YPigsFly Secure bandwidth make use of cutting edge carrier class hardware from some of the big boys Juniper & Cisco.  They have some in-house tools as well to do detection and attack mitigation.

Not that I need all of this for my UDP and TCP based game network but they provide protocol attack protection, such as TCP, ICMP and UDP attacks, source connection limiting, HTTP-GET and DNS detection and mitigation on Layer7 as well as utilize powerful behavioral attack detection.
